Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 21st, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP on the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox started posting her music to the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21, 2015. The following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was revealed that she had contracted to Dreamville Records. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016 her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. The 13th of November, she came out with two additional singles, No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed alongside Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. This track, which was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 was watched more than three million times over the first seven days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
