Kim Delaney, an American actor best known for her role as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her roles on the drama show All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was born the only child from her mom who was a homemaker as well as a an executive in the United Auto Workers. Delaney was a child in the company of four brothers. When she was a kid she longed to be a court reporter. After graduating from high school, and moving in New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. The role she was given was that of an innocent child in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Since then Delaney has been in a variety of film and television dramas. Similar to her profession however, her private life has not been happy or successful. The accomplished actor has been battling alcoholism as well as two failed marriages.
